Lliswerry Ward Matters Independents

We are applying to the Electoral Commission to register Lliswerry Ward Matters Independents as a political party ahead of the Newport City Council elections in May 2027.

Why? Without registration, independent candidates can only appear on the ballot paper as "Independent", alongside anyone else using the same word. Registering means you will see our own name and emblem next to our candidates, so you know exactly who you are voting for.

Nothing else changes. We have no national party, no whip and no head office outside Newport. Our only policy platform is what Lliswerry residents tell us matters to them.
